Power station turbo alternators are one of the most critical and demanding applications for carbon brushes. Long-life and reliable, consistent performance are pre-requisites for successful operation and very few grades are capable of meeting these requirements.

Our grade RE66 is ideally suited to these applications. Prolonged testing in our laboratories, together with customer trials worldwide, has resulted in a series of approvals on generators as large as 700MW, manufactured by Siemens, Alstom, ABB, Elin, GE, Toshiba, Westinghouse and others. Every batch of material is tested to international standard DIN IEC 60413 before a single brush is cut.

RE66 can operate continuously at 10A/cm2 and at slip ring surface speeds of up to 80m/s, giving consistent performance on all key measures including current distribution, wear-rate, friction, temperature and voltage drop.

Today, RE66 is in use in much of Europe, as well as South Africa, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Middle East. Many more power companies, recognising the potential benefits, have it on test.
