Gerken and E-Carbon carbon brushes are widely used in the critical and expanding wind energy generation market.

A typical wind turbine requires carbon brushes, not only for power transfer from the generator, but for earth dissipation, lightning protection, pitch control and power and signal transfer duties. Each carbon brush must perform reliably between service intervals under widely varying atmospheric and load conditions.

Working with key OEMs and operators, we have an ongoing programme of carbon brush development aligned to the evolution of the turbines themselves and the environments in which they operate. Between them, our state-of-the-art facilities in France and Germany can replicate many of the climatic and load conditions encountered in service, allowing much of the required testing to be carried out cost-effectively before fitting to turbines in the field.

In addition, our CarboWIND range of brush holders, sliprings and ancillary electrical wind turbine components, together with our repair and engineering support, allows us to offer a comprehensive and competitive package for wind turbine O&M.
